Fire Muster

This weekend was a bit of a bust, to be honest with you.  The stomach bug ripped through me and Tone and took our overnighting on the boat plans for a ride.  It took all boating plans out of the picture and we actually just (barely) ate plain chicken sandwiches for dinner on the boatyard Saturday night.

We made the most of Sunday when Jill and I went to the Fire Muster in the town Common.  Here are some pictures from our afternoon adventure:

Playdate at Point Street and Meeting Elizabeth

After picking Jill up from Tyla's house Thursday afternoon, we headed to Carah's parents' house. This is the picture I got with my phone when Carah asked the kids to look at Meg and smile.
 good listening, guys
Carah and Elizabeth
Elizabeth is 4 months old and weighs 18lbs. She is a sweetie pie.
Here's a picture I stole from Facebook (what a creep) because it was so stinkin' cute!
Jill, Patrick and Thomas played really well together.  Jill had no interest in Elizabeth and gave me a funny look when she saw me holding her.  Then she jumped in the hot tub with Mr. Dawe and his martini and the gang and forgot about Mom paying attention to anyone besides her.

Let the Boating Season Begin

On Sunday, Tony and I took the boat out for the first ride of the season.

 relaxing and oh-so-nice

Showering Kelley

Last weekend my college roommates and I met literally halfway between the Eastern and Western parts of the state at Kelley's house in Grafton for her bridal shower.

It was really nice to see everyone again.  Christine (right) had a baby girl 7 weeks ago.  Maggie (black dress) and her boyfriend are doing so well that he's moving in.  Elisa (left) and her husband Tim seem close to selling their condo; and Kelley (middle left) is, of course, getting married soon.  Elisa, Jen (white pants), Maggie and Christine are all teachers and are very ready for summertime.  Kelley and I wish we had followed this career path every June!

Kelley's Mom was also at the shower, sick and struggling but wouldn't have missed it.  She passed away a few days later.  It was surreal to read Kelley's text that she was gone.  I left her a voice mail that her Mom knew she would be cared for by Jordan, her husband-to-be.  There's nothing else you can say.  Tony and I are headed out to Grafton tonight for her memorial celebration.  Kelley is a seriously tough woman and I hope that I can hold it together for her later on today!

More From the Weekend

Poor Cinderella lost more than her glass slipper
 Jill attempting surgery
 enjoying her new pool
resting in Ethan's lap on Sunday afternoon at the boatyard
Ethan and Mary Ellen and Kelley and Jordan visited on Sunday
 me and Kel
this little guy was crossing the driveway as Kelley and Jordan were leaving after supper
Jill was thrilled to pieces to "find" him - with Kelley's heads up - and take him swimming in the pool.
I absolutely love this picture.

Happy Birthday, Lucy!

Guy taking the controls at Lucy's 3th birthday party Saturday afternoon
It was a "princess party" so Jill and I both wore dresses, hers much fancier than mine.  We packed up the red wagon and walked to the party.  They live about 1/2 mile down the street.
 the dress didn't last long
pretending to fall off the car
 playing with Colty and Lucy
practicing Kiss the Frog...
and so it begins
 patiently waiting
Jill lifted the bandana as soon as Jen tied it.  She had an unfair advantage.  Whatever.  She's smart and knows what it takes to win!
Lucy looked like she wanted to beat down the pinata.
 Jill was much more gentle.
The only time kids listen and are completely quiet at birthday parties.
Waiting for cake and ice cream

You would think we did enough on Saturday between the beach with Mel and Cole and Lucy's birthday party, right?  Wrong.  We walked home around 8pm, washed up and headed to Bob and Nicole's house.  Sophia and Jill ate popcorn and watched Ratatouille until wayyyyy past their bedtime.  Tony and Bob hung out by the fire and in the hot tub and Nicole and I just hung out with the kids.  Jill fell asleep on the couch and we got home at 12:45.  You read that correctly.  I don't remember the last time we stayed out that late.  We were kidless when we went out for my birthday and we were home at 10:30!  And now, with Jill, we stay out that late.  I was mildly impressed but awfully tired Sunday morning!

Fun with Guy and Cole

Earlier last week - May 30 to be exact - my brother Scott and his wife Jess celebrated their 4-year wedding anniversary with a dinner out, alone. Since my Mom was watching Guy, Jill and I decided to visit and keep him entertained.  They jumped on the indoor trampoline, the bed, the couch, me, whatever they could find.
On Saturday morning Jill and I met Mel and Cole at their house and walked to the Swansea Town Beach.  Mel's Mom met us to say hello and so did Stacia, her very-soon-to-be sister-in-law.  Stacia found us back at the house.  She came bearing gifts - melting ice cream sandwiches!
 Cole braving the water
 Jill taking a break
 from being crazy like this
She didn't get out of the water for very long!
Yup.  She did this without warning.  Dropped vanilla ice cream on my leg and decided it couldn't go to waste!
hahah Classic!
